The story behind the Arne Jacobsen Series 7 Bar Stool
The distinctive curves and functional appeal of Jacobsen's Series 7 chairs has made them one of the most popular collections in modern furniture history. Initially an experiment in new veneer techniques, the Series 7 was an adaptation of Jacobsen's 1952 Ant Chair. New industrial processes such as bending and laminating meant designers could come up with radical flowing forms. With his Series 7, Jacobsen exploited the possibilities of lamination to perfection. The chair is seen as a masterpiece in the development of furniture design.

Arne Jacobsen
1902-1971 (Denmark)
Arne Jacobsen was one of Denmark’s most influential modern designers and a pioneer of minimalist Danish style. Part genius, part visionary, his creations included furniture, lighting, textiles and silverware. But he is best known for his elegant yet functional chair designs, the most famous of these being The Egg Chair, The Swan Chair, The Series 7 Chair and The Ant Chair.
