ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Michel Ducaroy
Michel Ducaroy (1925-2009) is a French designer best known for being the author of one of the most famous and iconic sofas of all time, the Togo model by Ligne Roset. Born into a family of furniture designers and planners, Ducaroy studied at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts in Lyon in his youth and worked extensively in the family business. His activity as an independent designer began in 1952, while the beginning of his fruitful collaboration with the Roset family dates back to 1954. Ducaroy was for many years one of the leading designers of the Ligne Roset brand, pushing it towards the path of technological innovations in the field of emerging foam padding with products such as the Adria, Kashima and Safi chairs. Ducaroy reached the peak of its success between the end of the 60s and the beginning of the 70s, in a path that culminated in 1973 with the creation of the Togo model, still today a great bestseller and symbol of Ligne Roset production.
