The Poul Henningsen PH 3/2 Table Lamp

It is hard to believe that the Poul Henningsen PH 3/2 Table Lamp was created in the 1920s. Its timeless elegance looks as modern and stylish today as it did nearly a century ago. Our fine quality STIN reproduction of the PH 3/2 Table lamp follows the innovative design principle with three perfectly fitted opal glass shades that create both form and function. The glass is contrasted by a sleek polished chrome stem, which is available in aluminium, gold and black.

The story behind the Poul Henningsen PH 3/2 Table Lamp

Poul Henningsen designed the PH 3/2 Table Lamp in the mid-1920s as part of a lighting collection called the PH 3 series. The lamps were all designed to diffuse light and create a more peaceful, atmospheric lighting experience. The mathematical-sounding names refer to the different diameters of the lamps' shades.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER

Poul Henningsen

1894-1967 (Denmark)

Often said to be the first lighting architect, Danish designer, Poul Henningsen devoted much of his life to exploring the importance of light for well-being. Believing people should not be subject to the direct glare of an electrical light source, he focused on creating lamps that produced glare-free illumination. His self-titled PH series was his most famous collection and included the PH 3/2 Table Lamp, the PH Artichoke, the PH5 and PH 3½ - 2½ Floor Lamp.

"The technician should never forget that he is an artist, the artist never that he is a technician."
