Jo Hammerborg's Nova Pendant Lamp is more angular and layered than his other most famous lamp design, the Orient Pendant. But its unusual detailing and graceful angles are clearly the work of this master craftsman. With the bulb housed high in the body of the shade, and the multiple overlapping leaves, the Nova Pendant has Hammerborg's characteristic harmony of form and function. Our STIN has been lovingly constructed to Hammerborg's demanding design, and reproduces each of the beautiful and precise features. This piece would be perfect for any Scandinavian-inspired study or kitchen.
Amongst a career filled with incredible accomplishments, one of the most impressive in Jo Hammerborg's history is his work with globally-renowned silversmiths Georg Jensen. With the Nova Pendant Lamp, this mastery of metal is directed towards Hammerborg's own unique design practice. The design for the Nova Pendant Lamp is certainly influenced by the designs of fellow Danish legend Poul Henningsen, but Hammerborg's reputation for complete focus and attention to detail has created something truly unique. Out of production for many years, the beauty of the Nova Pendant Lamp can now be experienced once again.
Trained as a silversmith, Jo Hammerborg pioneered modern Danish lighting. His designs introduced sleek minimalism and understated beauty to the Danish lighting landscape, and helped launch his longstanding twenty-three year career at lighting company, Fog & Mørup. At Fog & Mørup he achieved both creative and commercial success, winning several international awards, with his input reviving and strengthening the company. Hammerborg continued designing lamps until his death in 1982. His forward-thinking approach to lighting design is one of the main reasons why he continues to be a well-renowned name in modern lighting even today.
