THE STORY BEHIND THE GEORGE NELSON ASTERISK CLOCK
While the Ball Clock, Sunburst Clock and Eye Clock may be his most famous designs, the Asterisk Clock is a George Nelson piece that is as stylish and functional as anything he ever produced. Made from a single shaped piece of aluminium, which provides clean, crisp lines and an instantly recognisable silhouette, it first appeared during the late 1950s. Slightly smaller than many of Nelson's designs, it found its way into the hearts of consumers with its adaptability, functionality and effortless cool. It is little wonder, when you look at the Asterisk that Nelson's work found its way into the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

George Nelson
1908-1986 (United States)
American industrial designer, George Nelson was one of the founders of American modernism. He was renowned for finding inspiration in the unlikeliest places. Instead of looking for a shape that resembled a human body, Nelson introduced the idea that anything could be turned into a unique furniture design. His most famous pieces are based on coconuts and marshmallows.
