Poul Henningsen PH 4 ½ - 3 ½ Table Lamp
The timeless appeal of the PH 4 ½ - 3 ½ Table Lamp brings elegance and sophistication to your home. Henningsen's superb craftsmanship is apparent at every level, from its minimalist aesthetics to its superior functionality. The varying layers of the petal-shaped shade reflect light to provide soft, glare-free illumination. Each layer is made from hand-blown opal glass, which has been sandblasted on the underside to give uniform light distribution. The chrome base is available in an aluminium, black or gold finish. The PH range includes ceiling, floor, table and wall lamps, with varying sizes of shades.
The story behind the Henningsen PH 4½-3½ Table Lamp
Introduced in 1925 at the Copenhagen Forum, the PH 4½-4 Table Lamp is an addition to a collection that started a year before in Paris. Henningsen's PH pendant prototype was launched at the 1924 Paris World Exhibition and was awarded a Gold Medal. Its popularity lead to Henningsen designing a collection of complementary lighting that all had the same signature style but different sizes shades. The PH 4½-4 Table Lamp is the largest table lamp in the collection. The '4½' refers to the 45cm width of the top shade, while the '4' indicates that the lower shades reflect the sizes of the 3½ model.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Poul Henningsen
1894-1967 (Denmark)
Often said to be the first lighting architect, Danish designer, Poul Henningsen devoted much of his life to exploring the importance of light for well-being. Believing people should not be subject to the direct glare of an electrical light source, he focused on creating lamps that produced glare-free illumination. His self-titled PH series was his most famous collection and included the PH 3/2 Table Lamp, the PH Artichoke, the PH5 and PH 3½ - 2½ Floor Lamp.
