The largest singular pendant lamp in the classic 3 shade PH Lamp collection, the PH 4½-4 Pendant Lamp makes an impressive addition to your home. It is made up of three different lamp shades, layered in decreasing size from top to bottom. The largest having a width of approximately 45cm. Hand-blown from opal glass, each layer has a shiny upper surface and sandblasted lower surface to create uniform light distribution. The clever design eliminates glare by producing only reflected light. The result is a soft, warm illumination. The lamp's chrome stem and ceiling rosette are available in aluminium, black or gold finish. Other lamps in the PH collection includes the PH 3/2 table lamp, PH 3/2 pendant lamp, PH 3/2 Wall Lamp, PH 4 ½ - 3 ½ table lamp and PH 3/2 Academy pendant.
Inspired by Henningsen's appreciation of the traditional gas lamp, the PH 4½-4 Pendant Lamp is a modernist take on a classic style. Functional, aesthetic and minimalist, the lamp follows the principles of Scandinavian minimalism. It was created as a group of pendant, table, wall and floor lamps known collectively as PH Lamps. The lamp's mathematical-sounding name comes from its dimensions. The '4½' refers to the 45cm width of the top shade, while the '4' indicates that the lower shades reflect the sizes of the 4/3 model.
1894-1967 (Denmark)
Often said to be the first lighting architect, Danish designer, Poul Henningsen devoted much of his life to exploring the importance of light for well-being. Believing people should not be subject to the direct glare of an electrical light source, he focused on creating lamps that produced glare-free illumination. His self-titled PH series was his most famous collection and included the PH 3/2 Table Lamp, the PH Artichoke, the PH5 and PH 3½ - 2½ Floor Lamp.

The light came well wrapped. Just to go to. I set it self up, but had difficulty in adjusting the wire as berries lamp. It does not follow the instructions that the wire is" "locked" "can be adjusted by pressing the small socket into the lamp socket. I had damaged the coated plastic and had to install a new wire. Apart from this Mishap sit lamp and lit up beautifully in the room. 4 stars because of the somewhat incomplete instructions. Regards Carl W Kjersgaard
