ABOUT THE JEAN PROUVE POTENCE WALL LAMP

Jean Prouve's Potence Wall Lamp is a stunning example of French designer lighting. Prouve's design is an engineering marvel and a sublime piece of lamp art. The swing arm offers a versatility that simply can't be achieved with any other piece; the single metal rod can be swung or extended to achieve maximum coverage, meaning the the light is never overpowering or underwhelming. The lamp certainly has an industrial charm, but its functional style is also formally stunning. It is so versatile we are confident our STIN reproduction would enhance any minimal living space.

THE STORY BEHIND THE JEAN PROUVE POTENCE WALL LAMP

Although most famous for a series of chair and table designs, Jean Prouve often brought his scultptor's eye to bear on elegant lighting solutions. The wall lamp was designed in collaboration with Charlotte Perriand and was built as a very specific solution to a lighting problem he had within his own home. Now this beautiful design can be seen around the world. Prouve trained as a blacksmith and his skill handling metal is particularly clear in his design for the Wall Lamp. Complex construction, such as that on the hinge, is made subtle and artful in his confident hands.
