The story behind the Hans J. Wegner Y-Chair Cushion
Along with producing over 500 chair designs in his lifetime, Hans J. Wegner also constantly adapted and improved his existing works, striving to create the ideal chair for the public. The addition of a specially-designed cushion to his seminal Y-Chair was one such riff on a classic. With more support and padding, the Y-Chair became even more adaptable, allowing it to fit seamlessly into the living room as well as the dining room or study, as it offered the kind of comfort one would normally expect from an arm chair.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Hans J. Wegner
1914-2007 (Denmark)
Danish furniture designer, Hans J. Wegner was a pioneer of Organic Functionality, which seamlessly merged natural shapes with practical applications. His designs significantly contribute to the international popularity of mid-century Danish design. In his lifetime he designed over 500 different chairs, over 100 of which were put into mass production and many became design icons. His most iconic designs include the Y Chair, the CH07 Lounge Chair, the Ox Chair, the Style Hoop Chair, The Chair and the Wing Chair.
