The story behind the Arne Jacobsen Egg Stool
In 1958, Arne Jacobsen was commissioned to design every element of the lobby and reception area of the exclusive Royal Hotel, in Copenhagen. Jacobsen saw this as a golden opportunity to put his theories of integrated design and architecture into practice. The Egg Chair and Ottoman pairing were one of the biggest triumphs of the whole design. Among Arne Jacobsen's iconic designs you also find the Swan Chair, the Series 7 Chair and the Ant Chair.

Arne Jacobsen
1902-1971 (Denmark)
Arne Jacobsen was one of Denmark’s most influential modern designers and a pioneer of minimalist Danish style. Part genius, part visionary, his creations included furniture, lighting, textiles and silverware. But he is best known for his elegant yet functional chair designs, the most famous of these being The Egg Chair, The Swan Chair, The Series 7 Chair and The Ant Chair.
