Poul Henningsen PH 4½ - 3½ Floor Lamp Tall
A taller version of the PH 4½-3½ Floor Lamp, this lamp's perfect for high ceiling rooms or when you want overhead lighting without any drilling. Standing at 153cm tall, this classic design features the PH signature three-layered conical shade. Made from hand-blown opal glass, the lamp reflects light downwards to emit soft, glare-free illumination. The slender stand and base are made from polished chrome and allow the lamp to easily fit into corners and beside sofas. The base and shade come in a choice of black, aluminium or gold coloured finishes. The PH Lamp collection includes the PH 3/2 table lamp, PH 3/2 pendant lamp, PH 3/2 Wall Lamp, PH 4 ½ - 3 ½ table lamp and PH 3/2 Academy pendant.
The story behind the Poul Henningsen PH 4½-3½ Tall Floor Lamp
Poul Henningsen's celebrated PH Lamp collection started in 1924, when he designed a pendant lamp for the Paris World Exhibition. The pendant lamp won first place in the light fitting category. It also served as a prototype for the rest of '3 shade' collection, which features pendant, wall, table and floor lamps. Inspired by the desire to create an electric reproduction of the traditional gas lamps, the PH 4½-3½ Tall Floor Lamp has a timeless style and elegance. Its rather functional name refers to the sizes of the lamp's shade. The '4½' indicates the 45cm width of the top shade, while the lower shades reflect the sizes of the 3½ model.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Poul Henningsen
1894-1967 (Denmark)
Often said to be the first lighting architect, Danish designer, Poul Henningsen devoted much of his life to exploring the importance of light for well-being. Believing people should not be subject to the direct glare of an electrical light source, he focused on creating lamps that produced glare-free illumination. His self-titled PH series was his most famous collection and included the PH 3/2 Table Lamp, the PH Artichoke, the PH5 and PH 3½ - 2½ Floor Lamp.
